For 35 years as an American diplomat I lived and worked in countries with dysfunctional governments and saw first hand the resulting damage to their citizens' health, wellbeing, prosperity and security. We must do everything we can to ensure a strong, responsive and effective democracy for the United States, starting with safe and fair elections.
