When we declared our independence we decided that our country should not be defined by a king, chosen by God. But instead, we chose a Constitutional Republic, represented by the people, for the people. We chose to create strong checks and balances, and put our faith in those institutions. Those we elect to office are to uphold those institutions.
Rhetoric that demeans, disrupts, and dissolves those institutions should be shunned by the American people.
