Free and fair elections are the bedrock of democracy. I fear for the long term resiliency of our democratic republic should these principles be eroded for the short term gain of political power. I believe the 2016 presidential election was free and fair. I also believe the 2020 presidential election was free and fair. I have personal disagreements with the democratic value of the electoral college, but I recognize in both of these previous elections that the winner was decided correctly and fairly in accordance with our electoral system. The peaceful transfer of power is essential to the preservation of our democratic institutions.
