Non-violence is one of the four pillars of the Green Party in the United States and internationally (we are in 76 countries). Having a principle such as non-violence isn't only for when it's easy, but is most important when it's hard. We still have improvements to make the pledge language real for two areas - "All citizens can easily exercise their right to vote...." since many obstacles exist for poor, minority, and homeless voters; and transparency since it is impossible to observe or monitor electronic voting machines and tabulators - but the basic point of peaceful transfer of power and reliance on our laws and courts is an excellent and foundational principle.
